Learn to implement play into your work at your own pace.

A PLAYCE facilitator leading a hands-on activity

About the Program

Community-driven action, at your own pace

The PLAYCE Self-Study Program focuses on promoting community-driven action and positive change. It helps individuals, organizations, and communities empower themselves to build a better environment. It provides a comprehensive range of coaching and facilitation techniques, emphasizing communication and collaboration, to develop the skills needed to become a successful facilitator, including the ability to create a safe and productive environment for group discussions, problem solving, and decision making.

This self-study program lets you work at your own pace, and guides you in creating your own group of players to learn and practice facilitation and leadership skills. It's organized similarly to the live Coaching Program, where participants are immersed in playing, facilitating, and practicing. Through play and practice, participants become successful facilitators, bringing more vibrant and engaging techniques to every scale of project or initiative.

The content consists of lectures, videos, articles, and experiential learning. You will get out of this program more than what you put into it.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the schedule look like?

The Self-Study Program is on your schedule. You choose when and how often you work with the material and practice facilitating the exercises.

What can I do to be successful?

The best way to move through the material is to follow the Self-Study Syllabus. Although each cohort is customized for each group's needs, the syllabus closely mirrors a typical coaching cohort without the group experience.

How do I fit this into my workload?

We strongly recommend finding one project, current or upcoming, that you can actively work on during the program. You'll plan, prepare, and practice facilitating the entire engagement plan for your project, so your time in the portal is spent actively learning and planning innovative strategies for real work.

How long do I get portal access?

You'll receive portal access from the date of first purchase until your subscription is cancelled.

What sort of content is in the portal?

Content written specifically to advance our cohort and members' knowledge of using play in community engagement, articles, videos, game instruction sheets, methodology instruction sheets, tips, and more. We're constantly adding to it.

What will I get out of this?

The intention is for you to personally gain the knowledge and skills to implement this methodology in your community engagement practice, which can lead to improved community and project-leader relationships, community members becoming project champions, rapid consensus building, and budget savings from less time spent on design iterations and drawn-out process.
